Behaviour & Attendance
Being in school is important to your child’s achievement, well-being, and wider development. Evidence shows that the students with the highest attendance throughout their time in school gain the best GCSE and A Level results. If, however, your child’s absence is unavoidable, please follow the appropriate process as outlined below. If you want to know more, our full attendance policy can be found here:
Parents/carers must notify the Academy by 8.30am or as soon as practically possible, by either:
|
or |
PHONEthe main Academy number 01582 722 333, and select option 1 from the menu |
In either case, you should confirm the name of your child, their year and form group, and the reason for the absence.
We encourage parents to make medical and dental appointments outside of the school day, however, where this is not unavoidable, students must be absent for the minimum duration of time possible (i.e. attending the academy before and after the appointment unless at the very beginning/end of the day). Absence for other reasons will only be granted in exceptional circumstances at the Principal’s discretion.
On these occasions, parents/carers should notify the Academy with as much notice as possible, by either:
to TSPAStudentAbsence@thesharedlearningtrust.org.uk, ideally including a photo or screenshot of the appointment confirmation |
or |
PHONEthe main Academy number 01582 722 333, and select option 1 from the menu. Please note you still may be asked for evidence of the appointment. |
In either case, you should confirm the name of your child, their year and form group, and the reason for the absence.
