World Hijab Day 2025
'The theme for World Hijab Day 2025, celebrated annually on February 1st, is #HijabisUnsilenced—a powerful movement to amplify the voices of hijab-wearing women worldwide. This theme celebrates the strength, resilience, and determination of hijabis who, despite facing stereotypes and prejudice, refuse to be silenced. It highlights the hijab as a symbol of empowerment, identity, and solidarity.'worldhijabday.com/theme
On Friday, January 31st, TSPA marked World Hijab Day with a lively and engaging lunchtime event that brought students together in celebration and understanding. The event encouraged participants to try on hijabs, allowing them to experience and reflect on the significance of this important symbol to Muslim women.
Students were invited to record personal reflections on what the event meant. This thoughtful activity fostered a deeper appreciation for our school community's diverse backgrounds and beliefs. The event offered more than just a chance to wear the hijab; it provided a platform for dialogue and learning.
Participants were delighted to take home various keepsakes from the day, including crafted bookmarks, henna stickers, heartfelt testimonials, badges, polaroids and comments written by fellow students. Each of these items served as a reminder of the meaningful connections made throughout the event.
There was also a spotlight on various types of headwear, including from different cultures, showcasing the beauty and diversity of traditions worldwide. This aspect of the celebration not only highlighted the significance of the hijab but also emphasised the rich tapestry of cultural identities within our student body, making everyone feel included and valued.
As always, this event allowed students to unite and reinforce the importance of role models in our community. The sixth formers played a pivotal role in enhancing visibility and awareness of this occasion, demonstrating leadership, commitment, and camaraderie. Their active participation embodied our core values of #Excellence, #Responsibility, and #Compassion and made us all proud and connected.
World Hijab Day at TSPA transcended being just an event; it was a heartfelt celebration of community, inclusivity, and mutual respect. It was a powerful reminder of the significance of acceptance and belonging in our beautifully diverse world.
